Initial D is a Japanese street racing manga series written and illustrated by Shuuichi Shigeno. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine from 1995 to 2013, with the chapters collected into 30 tankōbon volumes. The story focuses on the illegal street racing circuits of the Touge roads in Japan.

The title is a pun on the Biblical parable of the talents, in which three servants are given different amounts of money (talents) by their master to invest. One servant who is given five talents makes five more, while another servant who is given two talents makes two more. However, the servant who is given one talent buries it in the ground and returns it to his master unchanged. In Japanese, the word “talent(s)” can also be read as “tankyuu,” which is a homonym of the Japanese word for “gear.” Therefore, the title of Initial D can be interpreted as “The Master’s One Gear.”

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, also known simply as Street Fighter II, is a 1994 anime film adaptation of the 1991 fighting game Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. The film was directed by Gisaburō Sugii and produced by Akira Nishimura, Super Planning, and Group TAC.
