Immersed in West Africa: My Solo Journey Across Senegal, Mauritania, The Gambia, Guinea and Guinea Bissau (Kindle)
As a white woman from Canada, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I announced that I was going to travel solo through West Africa. I had been to Senegal before, but this time I wanted to venture further off the beaten path and explore some of the less visited countries in the region. I was not disappointed.
I started my journey in Senegal, where I immediately felt welcome. The people are warm and friendly and the food is delicious. I then made my way to Mauritania, where I was able to see some amazing landscapes and meet some interesting people. The Gambia was next on my itinerary, and I was excited to see a country that is often overlooked by tourists. I was not disappointed. The Gambia is a beautiful country with friendly people and plenty to see and do.
After The Gambia, I made my way to Guinea, where I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and learn about the country’s culture and history. I then made my way to Guinea Bissau, where I was able to learn more about the country’s unique culture and explore its beautiful beaches.
Overall, I had an amazing experience travelling through West Africa. I would encourage anyone considering it to go for it. You won’t be
