The charity was set up in memory of Julia Thorne, who died of cancer in 2002 aged just 35. Julia’s mum, Jane, and sister, Emma, were determined to create something positive from her tragic death, and so they set up the charity in her name.

Since then, Julia’s House has gone from strength to strength, helping hundreds of families across Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset.

The charity has two respite care homes, one in Poole and one in Dorchester, where families can come to stay for a short break. The houses are staffed 24/7 by a team of skilled and experienced carers, who provide round-the-clock care and support.
