Aaron was born in Jasper, Alabama, on January 29, 1972. He began writing comics in the late 1990s, after quitting his job as a pizza delivery man. His first published work was the 2000 Image Comics series RhineStone Cowboy.
Since then, Aaron has written for a variety of publishers and characters. He is perhaps best known for his work on Marvel’s Thor, which he has been writing since 2012. In 2014, he wrote the storyline “Original Sin”, in which it was revealed that Nick Fury had whisper-killed Thanos. This story led to the 2015 crossover event “Secret Wars”.
