Born : She was bornon February 12 in 1989 in Longsight of Manchester city in England. At present, she is 28 years old. Her father’s name in Abdul Azad. Her parents are Bangladeshi. By religion, her family is a Muslim family.
Education : She studied in Whalley Range High School. Then she completed AS-Level on English, Biology, Business studies and Chemistry from Xaverian College in Rusholme, England.
Career : She started her journey in Hollywood in 2005 by acting in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, the fifth part of Harry Potter series. She got the role when casting agents visited her school for taking audition. The agents were busy in audition. But Afshan Azad was taking part in the audition just for fun. Somehow, she managed to get the focus of casting agents and got the part of Padma Patil in the Harry Potter Film series. And that’s how her journey started in Hollywood. The character of Afshan Azad’s twin sister Parvati Patil was played by Shefali chowdhury, another Bangladeshi descendant actress. Both of them were very good friend from their childhood.
Controversy : At the age of 22, she engaged in a relationship with a non-muslim man. But her family didn’t accept it. Her father and her brother threatened her to take her to Bangladesh and force her into arrenge marriage. On June 29, 2010 her father and brother were charged with threatening to kill her and appeared in Manchester Magistrates’ Court. As her brother was not present on other dates, the court found him guilty and he was imprisoned for six month.
