Pink eye, scientifically known as conjunctivitis, is an inflammation of the thin and moist membrane (conjunctiva) that covers the white part of the eyeball and inner surface of the eyelids. It can make eyes look pink or red and causes a burning sensation and itchiness in the eyes. This 4 month old pink eye is usually caused by viral or bacterial infection, allergies, or other skin conditions.
